ARTIST BIO

Artist’s bio

Dr Terri Mac Donald (BVA(Hons), PhD)

Terri obtained her doctorate in creative arts (specialising in natural history and illustration) from James Cook University in 2014, and has spent the last several years exploring a number of different media and themes in her work. She has won numerous awards, including the Ernest Henry Memorial art award for watercolour and a number of regional arts awards in both Queensland and Victoria. Terri spent a number of years lecturing in illustration, design and fine art students at James Cook University before moving south to Victoria in 2007. She moved to the Seymour region in 2015, and (alongside a full-time job), currently works as a freelance artist and illustrator, primarily in watercolour, but also working in pen and ink, dry media including pastel and coloured pencil and in a variety of printmaking mediums. She particularly enjoys working on Kelmscott vellum and using shell gold and other precious materials in her work to highlight her subjects.

Her PhD thesis, entitled Living with the Enemy may be viewed (complete with illustrations) at https://researchonline.jcu.edu.au/40606/1/40606-mac-donald-2013-thesis.pdf
