I am a passionate activist and curious researcher who has seen many corners of this planet. Half my life ago, I worked as a performer and director, and founded Scarlet Harlets, one of Europe's leading women's theatre companies in the ‘80s. Over the past decades I have worked as a public health consultant within the HIV sector in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. This work brought much sadness and grief as I lost over one hundred friends and colleagues, and in 2011 I decided to pull back from work. I had never put paint on canvas before and I immediately immersed myself into it and found it calming. I wanted to paint water, more water, and water against rock. I paint because it soothes me, stretches me, and puts me into a peaceful, endless space I experience nowhere else on earth except when I am under the sea, scuba diving. |
