All sides painted, signed on back of piece. “What sort of images come to mind when you think of Japan?” The answers usually include advanced technologies, red shrine gates, anime and great food – such as sushi, ramen and so on. People also often say a landscape awash in a gentle pink with sakura cherry blossom. Each spring, cherry blossoms grace Japan with colour for a brief and beautiful moment. Such is the fleeting nature of this eagerly anticipated yearly phenomenon that most Japanese news channels cover the flowering. The Japan Meteorological Agency also issues a full-bloom forecast, which follows the blooming as it starts from the south and spreads across the north of Japan. This way no one misses out. The full bloom of the cherry blossom happens from late March to April. It is a season of many changes in Japan – including graduation and entrance ceremonies to schools – so there are many reasons to celebrate. At this time, people take a moment to appreciate the brevity of spring and its beauty, with the blooming and falling of cherry blossom.

ARTIST BIO

I'm mixed media abstracts expressionist artist based in QLD. Most of my work is develop in small projects or series, where a detail or a technique that gives an interesting result in one painting may lead me off in a new direction for the next.

I began studying to paint at 6 years old at Fine Art School and later I spent 4 years through Art college where concentrated on art history, classical art and modern design.

My paintings are greatly influenced by modern art and childhood spent in Europe, reflect travel, experiences associated with nature, places, people and sounds, which are intertwined with vibrant colors, textures and lines. This is a sculptural interpretation of the images and emotions accumulated in my life.

In my artworks the themes of femininity, harmony, the joy of life and fantasy. Creativity for me is a way of knowing the world, an opportunity to share my joy with the viewer and jointly experience a moment of happiness, each delighted to be surprised at the versatility of the world.
