ARTIST NOTES: This drawing of cherries with water-colored and pencils, is a result of my direct observation of the cherries at my backyard as I kept my eyes on 'unwanted' visitors from stealing my cherries. I applied water-colored to fill in areas of color quickly and used the colored pencils, and graphite to refine the details. It was fascinating to see the beams of light shining through the branches and leaves, and I could see the reflections of light on the surfaces of the cherries and the leaves. As it was right after the rain, there were still some rain droplets hanging on the cherries and leaves, creating some kind of crystals-balls. I was fully captivated by this nature's powerful beauty. It has been incredibly inspiring. Such a wonderful moment in this unsettling times, to reconnect with my surroundings and found it comforting.

ARTIST BIO A student of Dilpoma in Visual Art. Mee Seong has been interested in painting and drawing from very early age. Since becoming a resident of Melbourne, Australia in 2007, Mee Seong brought with her a love of painting of the Australian landscape around her. This resulted in a great desire to learn to paint her environment as she experienced it. She enrolled in the art course at Centre for Adult Education of Box Hill Institute, Melbourne, after leaving her banking career with ANZ bank. Mee Seong enjoys trying to capture a mood or the effects of light on variety of subject matter, whether it may be animal, still life, landscape or water scenes. Throughout this time, she never lost her love of using traditional methods and subsequently specialised in alcohol ink, watercolor and oil painting.
