Alone by John Rapley

Features

ARTIST NOTES: This image was taken on the New Plymouth Back Beach in the South West corner of the New Zealand North Island. Like a lot of the beaches in NZ it is a black sand beach. In a 3 week trip in 2019 there were only 3 dry days and this wasn't one of them, fortunately though the rain stopped as sunset approach and the setting sun was able to peak below the retreating clouds. The earlier rain meant the creek was running reasonably well As the day had been cold and wet there was almost no-one on the beach and then a chap appeared from the car park an proceeded to walk down the beach. It evoked in me, on that day a feeling of calm, the lone person walking down the beach at the end of the day away from the hustle of work and other commitments. On other occasions it evokes a feeling of loneliness, walking on a beach all alone. Its meaning takes on the mood of the viewer. This is image 1 of a limited edition of 10 prints I frame my works myself using Australian Hardwoods. Prices are for lightly stained Mountain Ash but other timbers are available subject to what I can get from my suppliers The sizes shown are for the print. Framed sizes are approx 18cm wider and taller Other sizes offprint are available
